The Khar police will be questioning Gautam Vora again, after Viveka Babajee’s family released the couple’s intimate photographs, emails and chats that indicated that they were having a love affair.
Vora, in his statement to the police and the court, has been denying having any intimate association with the supermodel and said that they were just “good friends.” However, his emails and chats with Viveka suggest more than a friendship with her. The police have so far taken the statements of Viveka’s mother Dayawanti, and other family members. The police have not pressed any charges against Vora.
“I think u r idiotic, I love u.” This is one of the messages stock analyst Gautam Vora exchanged with former supermodel Viveka Babajee on chat, according to Viveka’s family.
The family released messages from the 37-year-old model’s chat and email accounts to back their claims that Vora had lied when he told the court and police that he was not Viveka’s boyfriend.
An email from Vora sent to Viveka’s account on a social networking site on May 28 read: “Call me babe…need to talk to you. And please don’t assume anything; have been totally loyal to u since we started seeing each other. You have no reason to doubt me. I love you very much.”
Another email from Vora sent on June 9 read: “Hi honey, my phone is out of money, so can’t call you or send text messages. Also, it was on silent so couldn’t hear it in my sleep…just woke up…call when you get this. Miss u. Love u.”
Vora had told the police that Viveka’s life was in turmoil and that he was helping her cope with her troubles. “…She was taking Zoloft [an anti-depressant] and was on heavy medication,” Vora’s statement said.
“As she was a good friend I used to visit her house sometimes and listen to her problems. We have also gone out a few times.”
The family claimed that his messages, however, tell a different story.
An email Vora sent to Viveka from Rome on June 12 said, “Hope u are having a wonderful day at FTV shoot…I can’t wait to see it. Am sure you are going to do extremely well my love... am extremely happy that you are getting really busy…can’t wait to be in Viva’s [Viveka’s] arms…my love…I love u.”
The model’s family members said Vora’s “lies” to the police have been bothering them. The family claimed that the couple were considering marriage seriously and had also matched horoscopes.
The Khar police will also be taking statements of Viveka’s former boyfriends Rohit Jugraj and Kartik Jobanputra. “We will also be taking statements of Viveka’s close friends, one from Delhi and one stays in the city. Once that is done, we will be calling Vora for questioning again,” said a police official from Khar police station requesting anonymity.
Speaking on behalf of Viveka’s family, Dale Bhagwagar said that the family wants Vora to tell the police what happened in his last meeting with Viveka following which she made a few frantic calls and committed suicide. The family further questioned why Vora was lying and misleading the police and the media, when he and Viveka had decided to get married, and had even matched their horoscopes.
The family also said only Vora can help the police in solving the mystery behind Viveka’s suicide. "We just want him to tell the truth,” Viveka’s family had said earlier.
